Work through these in order. Each step is something you can perform and report back on without opening the enclosure or swapping parts.
Record the winding or casing temperature and the running current. Compare both to the nameplate; current above rating is the simplest overheat cause.
Measure the three-phase voltages and currents. An imbalance beyond a few percent or a single-phasing condition overheats a motor fast and must be fixed upstream.
Look at the fan, shroud and cooling fins for blockage, and confirm the fan turns with the shaft. A blocked fin or a failed fan is a common, fixable cause.
Listen at the bearing housings for a growl or rumble and feel for local heat. Worn bearings add friction and heat before they fail.
After load, supply and ventilation check out, re-run at the normal load and confirm the temperature stabilizes within rating. A still-rising temp means we look at the winding.
